Trip to Fredericksburg

What a wonderful vacation! We got to spend almost a week at my grandfather's house in Fredericksburg with our dear friends, the Pattersons. It was a week filled with playing, laughing, getting dirty, games, chatting, and enjoying nature and friends. We had such a blast and were so thankful for the chance to get away. Its always so wonderful to watch your kids have so much fun, especially with a few of their little buddies. We can't wait to go back!

I can already tell just by the feel of the classroom that it is going to be a great year. I have prayed that the Lord would put my little girl with just the right teachers and after meeting them this week, I am confident that He has done just that! Addie told me that she loved them already.

She has the blessing of being with a lot of her Penguin friends, and even her Bee friends from when she was two. They are so adorable. It has been so fun to get to watch them grow these last couple of years.

Jett was very aware that Sissy was gone so long on Thursday. He kept asking if we could go get her and when she would be home. When we picked her up, they held hands all of the way out of school. I am thankful for their little friendship!

Max 9 Months

Well, really he is already 10 months, man I am behind! Look how sweet...

There are not many sweeter things that this precious face! At 9 months, little Max weighs in at 16lbs 6 ozs and he is 27 inches long. He is small in stature but mighty in heart! (and determination!)

His favorite thing to eat right now is meat sticks, eww... He LOVES them, and they are full of protein, so I keep on giving them! He eats a waffle (at least one), a bowl of yogurt (half of it is greek, yet again, full of protein) and half a banana every morning! He loves grilled cheese sandwiches, corn dogs, ALL FRUIT, crackers, and frozen peas and carrots, yes, FROZEN! Its so funny, thats his favorite way! He is quite picky, if he doesn't like how it looks, or maybe smells, it is not getting in that little mouth!

This little bitty thing is WALKING now! WOW! And, yes, it looks extremely odd. But, oh my goodness, he is persistent! I love him!!!

He has many faces and is full of personality!

He is a good sleeper. He sleeps all night, and always sleeps more soundly when his big brother is in the room with him. And, he takes two 1 1/2-2 hour naps each day. One about an hour and a half after he wakes up and one around 2 pm when Jett goes down. Thankfully, he is very flexible because that first nap just can't happen all of the time.

He is ALL boy; wrestling, growling, tackling, throwing, its going to be crazy around here!

He is only nursing about 3 times a day and they have turned into more of snacks. Most of the time, he could do without, but other times he will shout and slap at me until he gets what he wants. I'm not ready for him to be weaned, I need him to stay my little baby for a little longer.

He is still a thumb sucker. All he needs is his thumb and his elephant and he is happy! Don't try to take either one away, ANGER! He is so precious!

He loves to steal his brother and sister's water bottle and drink everything in there. He is not a fan of a sippy cup, but loves a straw.

I just can't even describe our love for this child and what a gift he is! Thank you Jesus! We know that these baby days pass so quickly and we are trying to enjoy every minute, and he makes that so easy. I can't wait to see what his future holds, but for now, I'll just chase the little thing around, watch him explore his new world, and sneak in some cuddle time any chance I get! I love you Max Clayton!

Memorial Day 2011

Six Months, WHAT?!?

A HALF A YEAR OLD! This kid is crazy sweet! And SO cute :) I am starting to see a precocious little personality! The boy is all over the place! He is the fastest little army crawler you have ever seen, and he WILL get what he wants apparently. He is still a fabulous sleeper (thank you Jesus!) and he is starting to like his solids a little bit more. Today, however, he is boycotting cereal and all fruit, it is veggies only, specifically carrots and peas, yes, crazy. He is sitting on his own, and it is so cute! He has started showing me his anger when we doesn't get what he wants right away, hard not to laugh.

He is still tiny, but he got to come off of his reflux medicine,woo hoo! He weighs in at 14 lbs 11 ozs, placing him in the 5th percentile! Dr. Terk said he is just going to be a little peanut. After seeing how active he was at his appointment, I think he had a better understanding of the amount of calories the kid is burning! Doc said that our goal is to help balance his calories with his activity level, could be challenging. If anything, anywhere in the house makes a peep, he is distracted from nursing, doesn't want to miss a thing! His length is 25.63 inches, 25th percentile, and his precious little head is right about 25th percentile also.

Max brings so much joy to this family. This week, Jett was laying in the floor, and Max took off after him and crawled all the way across Jett's body. Jett got a huge kick out of it...I saw it as a sign of things to come! What fun adventures lie ahead of us!

Five months

So...this shot is harder to get at five months (see below)

Oh, he is such a SWEET, HAPPY BOY!!! I think I have said it a million times, but I cannot get enough of him. We have started on cereal, which he is not a big fan of, unless its mixed with breastmilk, its a little more tolerable...I got some bananas in him, not a big fan of that either...and won't take a bottle, so he's a picky little guy! We're working on it! He loves to sit at the dinner table with us though, I think that makes him feel like a big boy!

He is sleeping great at night, usually 10-12 hours, which is FABULOUS! And he is not even bothered by his big brother, who is now in a big boy bed and likes to share his toys with Max during the night! :)

He still nurses every 2-3hours during the day, which I am good with since he sleeps so much at night and I am trying to put weight on him! He is a fast, efficient eater, I love that time with him!

He is rolling ALL OVER the place, and trying SO hard to crawl! I caught him up on his arms today like he was ready to take off, Mama is not ready for that!

This week he started babbling syllables, "Ah da da da" and it is so sweet. Lots of spitting with his tongue, he thinks that is pretty funny! His favorite thing to do is smile at Addie, she is so sweet with him, she is really taking on the big sister role. Sidenote...yesterday, Addie got in Jett's bed at naptime, read him three stories, then tucked him in and told him to stay in bed like a big boy, then told him goodnight and shut the door. It was so stinkin' sweet!

He has pretty much given up the paci, which didn't take long, now its all the thumb! All of the time. People say to me all of the time, "You are going to regret that..." But, number 1, I think it is so precious, and number 2, really, what am I supposed to do about it? He's five months old! I love it, what can I say???

Max, we love you like crazy! We love to laugh about your personality starting to show. We love to figure out who you look like, we are definitely starting to think you look like Addie with your big eyes. Your gummy little smile melts our hearts every time. You are a pure joy, and we are so thankful that the Lord has entrusted you to us.

Four months old

My tiny little man...and we found out that he is indeed tiny! At his check-up yesterday, he was 12 lbs 10 ozs, which places him in the 10 th percentile. My other two were in the 15 lb range at 4 months, so he is little!!! He spits up an awful lot, for example, I can rarely remain in the same outfit all day, and he definitely CANNOT, so Dr. Terk is putting him on an antacid to see if he will put some weight on. He is 24.5 inches long placing him in the 25th percentile, and his head is also still in the 25th, just perfect all around in my book!

He is still nursing about every 2-2.5 hours during the day, but he is SLEEPING ALL NIGHT!!! HOORAY!!! A little over two weeks ago, we decided it was time for him to move in with Jett. That same night, he decided he was ready for bed at 9:30 and he slept until the next morning at 9:30!!! CRAZY! And, for the most part, he has slept 10-12 hours every night, give or take a few!

He is rolling over both ways now. tummy to back and back to tummy. I have a feeling this has to do a lot with why he is sleeping so well because now he can sleep in his preferred position, whatever that may be.

I did start him on cereal a little bit, but he is not really a fan, so we may take a break and try again in a couple of weeks.

What a joy he is! He loves to be held, which mommy really likes :) Adam thinks that I am creating a little monster! He loves to grab at your face or hair, and loves to try to get a hold of his brother or sister as they walk by. He is starting to really enjoy playing with little rattles and toys, and the Johnny Jump Up is his FAVORITE! He just squeals and squeals in there!

What can I say...I am still crazy about him! :) Our little Bobo!

Oh Addie...my first born, my daughter, you are a special, special gift! You are so fun to watch. You are SO loved.

Addie is learning so much right now. It is amazing to watch her little mind at work. Her favorite things to do right now are puzzles and crafts. She loves writing her letters, we practice that a lot in the shower, writing on the shower walls with our fingers, its her favorite. I think she has a little crafty streak in her. As I speak, she is at the table making necklaces, collages, pipe cleaner people, and butterflies. These snow days aren't slowing her down!

She also LOVES to dance. Any time there is music playing, she is in a dress, dancing around the room. We even got her Just Dance Kids for the Wii, and she LOVES that! She has a really musical side also, she can sing the correct tune and match our pitches, even though she tends to make up some really funny words to the songs when she doesn't know them, for example:

"In Excelsis Deo" = "King Ku Chelsea's Gaylord"

"Yes, that's the book for me"= "Just snack a book I see"

"Every high, every low" = "every high through the shore"

"Many will rise and fall at the birth of this King" = "Many will rise fatha niss, ba ba birth um its king" (haha, those are not even real words!)

and many, many more!!! Another thing that I love that she says, instead of "Make sure to..." she says, "Makin' sure" so cute!

My favorite thing lately is she asked me, "Mommy, how come when I do something, and you don't see me, you always know what I did? Does God tell you?"

So, I explained to her, "Yes, kind of, he gives mommies something special called an instinct."

So, now, she says, "You know mommy, are you using that thing inside your body that God gave mommies?" LOVE IT!

There are so many other things. She keeps us rolling, keeps us challenged. Being our first born, she gets a lot of our parenting mistakes, but God has been gracious to give us so many teaching opportunities to show her what His character is like, his Grace, Love, and Forgiveness. We pray big things for you Addie, that God would draw you to Himself and use you in mighty ways!!!

3 Months Old!!!

Really, where is the time going??? My tiny man is three months old!!! This child is the happiest, smiley little thing! I spend a lot of time just rocking and cuddling him. It seems that this sweet time when they are so little goes faster with every baby. He is still sleeping in our room. Its funny, Addie moved into her own room at 10 days old, Jett moved out at 6 weeks, and now Max is three months old, and still in there with us, with no real plans of him moving out soon! :) I kind of like it... mostly its space issue, where do I put him where he doesn't wake anybody else up? We have some ideas, just haven't acted on them yet! He is back to waking up a couple times at night, we gave him cereal one night thinking it would help, he LOVED it, but still woke up that night. My goal is to be more consistent with that this week! He is still nursing every 2-3 hours during the day, and he is quite the little spitter, just like his big brother! As crazy as it sounds, I just know that one day, I am going to miss smelling like spit-up all of the time!

Max is also trying REALLY hard to roll over! He would much rather sleep on his side or his back so he is doing EVERYTHING that he can to get there. He gets to his side, and it won't be long. He loves standing in our laps and looking out, doesn't want to miss anything. He LOVES to watch his brother and sister! I am SO crazy in love with him!

Happy Birthday Jett!

Oh my sweet, sweet boy! I can't believe you have already blessed our lives for two whole years! You changed my life! This child is just about the sweetest thing. He loves to cuddle with his mommy, is always telling us he loves us, and is just a charmer all the way around. His favorite things right now are choo choos, cars, trucks, guns, and Buzz and Woody. He is ALL BOY!!! I am thankful for that, and boy does it keep me busy! He loves to wrestle and be rowdy, loves to get in the car and GO! Anytime we get in the car, he thinks we are going to Mimi and Poppy's house! He loves to play with friends, and is always asking about Lizzie and Lainie.

He is 28 lbs 4 ozs, which I guess is a little small for his height. That doesn't really surprise me though since his diet consists of crackers, cereal, yogurt, smoothies, peanut butter, nutella, hotdogs, cheese, spaghetti, pancakes, and that's about it! He is 34 3/4 inches tall which puts him in the 50th percentile, long and lean like Daddy.

Some funny quirks about Jett right now:

he has some Thomas the Train snow boots that he insists on wearing everyday, not to mention they are three sizes too big
if he has a new favorite toy, it has to go to bed with him, including the giant trash truck he got for his birthday
he LOVES his shoes, wants to wear them all the time
every night, he still wants to be rocked, then Adam and I have to go in separately to pray with him
he answers almost every question, "yeah, shoo" (yeah, sure!)
if he is wearing a button down shirt, especially pjs, he likes it all the way unbuttoned

I am crazy about this kid and thank the Lord for the blessing of him! Happy Birthday Buddy! You are treasured!

Christmas 2010

Christmas is such a precious time! This year, it was SO FUN to see the kids reaction to everything! We really wanted to start sticking with some family traditions this year. Adam was so fun in that he wanted to make sure that we did some sort of Christmas activity every week. We did our Jesse Tree Advent again this year, and the kids really got into the stories. We spent some time in beautiful downtown Grapevine, we went to the Southlake tree lighting, NorthPark Trains, Parade of Lights, lots of Christmas movies, and even our own "Tahoe Express!" Adam was the conductor with a train whistle and all, kids had to be in their pjs, wear a jingle bell necklace, and have a ticket! It was so fun, and we saw some beautiful lights! We loved celebrating our Savior together as a family!

Two Months

Yet again, I cannot believe that another month has gone by! This baby is P.R.E.C.I.O.U.S.!!! I am SO in love. He is the sweetest, calmest little thing, we'll see if that sticks around, the other two are not so calm! :) At his appointment last week, he was 11 lbs 1 oz which puts him in the 25th percentile, and he was 23 inches long putting him between the 25th and 50th percentile. So, he's a little guy, or a long, skinny little man. And his head is still in the 25th, quite a difference from his older siblings! He is just a "go with the flow" kind of boy and SO smiley. That gummy grin melts my heart. He has been sleeping 4-5 hours at a time at night, but last night he slept from 11-8, WHOA NELLIE! What a change! Hoping that trend sticks, even though there is definitely a part of me that already grieves those times where it is just the two of us at night, those are precious moments. He is definitely a paci boy, and I think that he is trying to suck his thumb, he's always trying to suck on his hands. His brother and sister are nuts about him! Addie is continuing her role as a little mommy and Jett loves to say, "Well, hi baby!" and tell me how cute the baby is. He has also gotten very good at saying "Shh Shh Shh," to him when he fusses, which is just not very often, unless he is in his car seat, or he gets his shots! Poor baby, he was SO offended! Tears and everything!

So, yes, I am smitten with this little boy! I have so many more pictures to post and many fun pictures of Christmas and all of the fun stuff that we were able to do with the kids. Hopefully I will get around to that soon. Its supposed to be FRIGID this week, so I'm thinking we'll have a lot of inside time, maybe I'll get to it then...if there's one thing I have learned being a mom of three, there is not much down-time! I hit the floor running in the morning, but I wouldn't trade it for the world! Love it!

Max's First Month

I can't believe that my teeny little man is already one month old! The time is flying! I am SO in love! His stats this month are:

Weight: 9 lbs 2.5 ozs

Height: 21 inches

His height, weight, and head circumference are all in the 25th percentile. My littlest one yet! He is such a great, laid-back baby, and I am so thankful for that! You hardly ever hear the child cry, unless he is cold or hungry! YAY! He has a little time between about 8pm-11pm that he needs his paci, but thats it! The older kids are doing so great with him! Addie is SOOO in love, and she has been such a helper to me! Jett is now asking to hold him, kisses his little head, and pats him. He is actually very gentle, besides the throwing of cars and body-slamming into the couch where he was laying the other night, but that's for another story!

He is nursing about every two hours during the day and every 3-4 during the night! And, we are functioning well! I get a lot done at night when he is up and the other two are asleep! I have really enjoyed that time with Max and Adam, it has been very special.

I would say that the transition to three has actually been easier than the transition to two, at least emotionally. Now, don't get me wrong, I have definitely had my moments, or days, but I do that with every baby! I am slightly emotional, those of you that know me well, know that is quite the understatement! But, the hardest part of three so far is logistics! Going places with three little ones is a little more difficult, but we do it, and I love getting out of the house, and it makes me feel human to get out and do stuff! I have also decided that a cup of coffee in the morning is a necessity and makes me a much better person!

I am CRAZY about this baby, and watching all three of my little munchkins has me constantly overwhelmed with gratitude! Here are some pictures of the last month:

He started smiling right about the time he turned 4 weeks old, and oh my goodness...melt your heart! I love leaning over the pack and play in the mornings to see that sweet little grin, you know the kind where he can't quite control the muscles in his face, so his whole face smiles...ahhh, so cute!

We are having a blast figuring all of this out! Its so much fun to see all of the kids interact together and to see Addie take on her role as the big sister of two brothers! The other day, she was painting and we were talking about it all. She told me that she wanted us to have another baby. And, I said, "Maybe we will if God has decided that is what our family is supposed to look like. But, what if its a boy?" She looked up at the ceiling and said, "PLEASE GOD...make the next baby a girl!" It was priceless! My cup runneth over...

Max's Birthday

November 1, 2010...What a day it was! I had a scheduled appointment at 10:45 on Monday morning. I had been having some back pain previously, but nothing more than that, a contraction every once in awhile, but very inconsistent. So, after my exam, Dr Wood told me that I was between a 3-4 and 90% effaced. She decided to hook me up to the contraction monitor where we saw that I had 4 contractions in 20 minutes, but it was all back labor. She decided to have me go home for a couple of hours, eat lunch, then come back and get checked. So, Adam and I filled the car up with gas, went to the house, cleaned up, got our stuff together, ate lunch and headed back to the doctor. When she checked me again, I had progressed to a 5-6, so she said, "Let's go have a baby!!!" So, we headed across the street to the hospital and got checked in. I decided to hold off on my IV for awhile so that I could bounce on the ball and let my labor progress a little further. Around 3:30, my contractions started really picking up, so I just kept on bouncing! About 5:00, I decided it might be time to head to the bed. I got an IV started, knowing that I had to get a whole bag of fluid in me before I could get my epidural, and that was very important to me!!! Dr. Wood, came in to check me around 6:00, told me I was at a 7, and broke my water. Contractions picked up pretty quick, so I asked for my epidural and got that around 6:30. At 7:00 since I hadn't progressed much more, they started pitocin. After that, my contractions began to get quite a but more intense, but irregular. My nurse said that with my back pain, the irregularity of my contractions, and the fact that the contractions were "coupling" (2 intense contractions back to back, then they would subside) they thought Max might be "sunny side up" where his face was up, or at least his head turned at some odd angle. So, every time that my back would start hurting, I would shift to my other side, hoping he would get himself into the right position. Around 9:15, I was checked again, at this point, they told me I was at an 8 and 100% effaced. I wanted to be further than an 8!!! Addie was in the room hanging out with us, and my back started hurting again, so I decided to shift to my right side. Almost immediately, my contractions got EXTREMELY intense! I told Adam that Addie needed to leave the room now, and I looked over at the monitor and saw that Max's heart rate had dropped really low. I called the nurse, but I barely had said a word and there was a nurse there to check me. She said she saw the drop and was thinking that it might be time! She put a glove on and just touched me and said, "You're having a baby!" So, everyone sprung into action! All the while, the 9th inning of the World Series Game 5 is playing on the TV! Max wanted to wait right until that moment to make his debut! The game ended, everyone took their places, I pushed through two contractions, and there he was! My 8 lb 1 oz, 20 inch, precious little Max Clayton!

As I hold this little gift, I am overwhelmed with gratitude and filled with joy. We have walked a very difficult journey with our precious best friends this year, and I am reminded even more that this new life cannot be taken for granted. Healthy babies are not promised, they are a miracle. Both the week of finding out I was pregnant with Max, and the week of delivering him were marked with different times of both grieving and celebrating simultaneously, a crazy picture of the mysterious ways of the Lord, Him showing us his goodness when it feels good and when it doesn't. But we know that He IS good, all of the time. Thank you Jesus.

BOY!!! Yes, we are having another crazy little boy! I was definitely wrong in my prediction, but I am thrilled beyond belief, I am pretty sure that I would have been either way! I feel so blessed, and I am so thankful that everything looked good in the sonogram yesterday. God has been gracious to us. I have mentioned this to several friends over the last couple of days, but the older I get, the more I see, and the more I experience, I am just amazed by the things that I have taken for granted in the past. Thank you Lord for your provision and protection. Please pray with us for a continued, healthy pregnancy and that baby

Life is rockin' and rollin' in our house! Our biggest news, if you haven't heard, is that Baby #3 is on the way! We are due November 3rd! Hooray! I am so thankful and feel so blessed that God has chosen me to carry this baby!

Other than that, my other two little munchkins have been keeping us busy! Its been a month or so since I have posted. Jett had his 15 month check-up a couple of weeks ago. He weighs 23 lbs 8 ozs and is 31 inches tall! He is a PRECIOUS little cuddlebug! He still doesn't say much. He has about five words, of which about two would be understood by someone other than his mommy and daddy! He is trying SO hard though, it won't be long! LOTS of babbling about ALL kinds of stuff! He is LOVING playing outside, wears the little guy out!

Addie is doing so well! She is about to wrap up her first year of preschool! I am so thankful for the time that she has had there and all that she has learned! We finally found a swing set that would fit in our backyard, so she has spent a lot of time this last week swinging! Lots has happened so, I will let these pictures say what has been going on around here lately...except they are completely out of chronological order! I do that every time!!!

My precious friend, Jamie Riddle, is trying to build her photography portfolio, so she emailed me last week to see if she could use my kids as models, and what did I say?...ABSOLUTELY!!! How fun! We had such a great time yesterday, I am so thankful that she thought of us! Jamie is the oldest of EIGHT children, so she was SO good with my kiddos! They LOVED her! Here is a sampling of what she took, yes it is a lot, but it was hard to pick out just a few, there are so many good ones! Thank you Jamie for such a FUN day and for capturing some precious moments with my munchkins!

Three Years Old!

We had our 3 year well check today! It was so different than the ones before. She wore a little gown, (isn't it so cute?!?) instead of running around in a diaper like at 2 years! She had a hearing and vision screening. I don't know why, but I thought it was SO cute when she held her little hand up listening to the beep in her ear. She is just such a big girl! I could tell she was quite nervous the whole way to the office, she was very aware where we were going. And, of course, the office was moving to an electronic charting system today, so we had to wait a LONG time. But, she did so good. When Dr. Terk came in, she greeted him by saying, "Hi, Dr. Terk. My mommy said that you are a pediatrician." I think just to make sure he was really who he (and I) said he was! He got a kick out of that. She did well through the exam, as long as I was right there beside her. When he asked her to climb up on the exam table, she told him that I was going to stand right beside her. She weighs 31 lbs and is 36 inches tall, a whole yard stick!!! That puts her between the 50-75th percentile for both her height and weight. Dr. Terk said that she was "just great!"

Addie girl, you are such a blessing to us. I can't believe that it has been three whole years since you made your grand entrance into the world. But I know one thing, you have not stopped spinning, twirling, or even almost slowed down. You are such a strong, intelligent little girl and you definitely keep mommy and daddy on our toes! I pray that as you grow into a little lady, our bond grows stronger and stronger. We pray that God grabs ahold of your little heart, as I know he has started to stir questions in there already at your young age. We pray for your future husband that right now, he is being nurtured, loved, and at this early age, already seeing what it means to be a man of God. It has been neat over the last couple of months to see you and your brother start to really enjoy each other. He loves you so much, and you are already such a good big sister. Thank you for the joy that you bring us, and the way that you challenge us everyday. We love you more than words can express. Happy 3rd Birthday Sweet Addie!

A "Pinkalicious" Party

I definitely have a girly-girl on my hands! One of her favorite books is "Pinkalicious!"
It is about a girl who eats so many pink cupcakes that she turns pink! We decided that would be a good theme for Addie's 3rd Birthday Party!!! Our new playroom made a perfect location for the party. We moved all of the toys out and trans the formed the room...

One Year Old Stats!

Jett had his One Year Check-up today! He put on quite a show for Dr. Terk, as he was sure that he could, all by himself, manage to scale his way up onto the exam table! He was climbing all over that room, dancing , squealing, he did not know what was coming! Dr. Terk said, "He is an active little thing isn't he? Even more active than sister!" Whew... :)

The sweet boy is 21 lbs and 13 ozs and 31 inches tall. That is eight ozs smaller that Addie at this age, but two and a half inches taller! It puts him in the 50th percentile for height and 25-50th for weight. That is right in line with where he was at 9 months. The doctor asked me about brushing his teeth, but he only has one and a half teeth, so, obviously, not much of a concern at the moment! We are taking care of what we got!

He got three shots, and he did so well, I mean, screamed, yes, but not for long! I think it hurt his feelings more than actual pain. He is very sweet, have I said that before?!? He really like that he got to suck on a "Dum Dum" while I made his next appt!

Praise the Lord for his health. I really am so thankful, and know that it is only by the grace of God that he is so healthy. That is not something to take for granted. And not something that we are promised, we learned that with a scare we had when he was first born!

Dr. Terk asked how many words he was saying, and I said, "Umm...not sure that I would consider any of them words...more like he uses the same syllables for the same things." He'll get there. Quite a different story from his chatter box sister! Don't get me wrong, LOTS of sound, just nothing that anyone but mommy would know what he was saying!

One of my favorite things about him is his love for music. No matter what kind of music, even just Addie singing her favorite "Barbie Diamond Castle" song, he just starts spinning! PRECIOUS!

Jett Daniel, what a year! I've said it so many times before, but WHAT A BLESSING YOU ARE! Thank you for always wanting to cuddle with your mommy, and when you are old enough to read this for yourself, I hope you are still cuddling with me! I love you!

Jett's First Birthday

Wow, where did this year go? I can't believe my precious boy has been with us for a WHOLE YEAR! What joy and blessing this little guy has brought into our family. Have a daughter is such a treasure, and likewise, having a son is so unique. The bond is so different and special in a whole new way. This little boy has changed me, I mean look at that face! Don't you just want to cuddle him??? And trust me...he wants to cuddle with you. Addie is my little independent, strong-willed fireball, and Jett is my soft, cuddly mama's boy! At least for now...(mama is hoping he stays that way!) As far as I can see, they are as different as they come, except for their volume, I have got some LOUD children. But, I have to say, they come by that honestly! He got a whole bunch of trucks for his birthday, but I think this one from Mimi and Poppy takes the cake. Daddy seems to like it a lot too! You can load all kinds of stuff into the dump truck part, or you can ride it! He also got a bunch of balls. Boy and girl presents are so different!

Addie wanted Jett to have a red cake with white icing. So, while he napped on Saturday, Addie made his cake for the little family get-together that we had Sunday night. She did it all, even held the mixer! She said that it had to have "racing cars" on it, so here is the finished product.

I will post some stats after I take him to the doctor on Thursday. Right now he has 1 and a half teeth! He is such a funny child. He laughs about everything, loves to dance and spin, chase after his sister, still loves to be held, and LOVES to eat! He's not saying much yet...attempts "snack, lunch, nurse...(yes, those all have to do with eating)Jett, mama, dada, ball, and book." But, I am pretty sure anyone that lives outside of this house would not know what he is saying. He mainly sticks to grunting and yelling, in true "caveman" style! He brings so much joy and entertainment into this house! Jett, your mommy and daddy love you so much! You are perfect just the way that God made you, we wouldn't change one single thing! What a precious gift God has given us in you!

A little sentimental...

I don't know what it is about me lately, but I am just so sentimental about these two little munchkins running around my house. It seems that there have been many things happening around us to remind us of the brevity of life and how precious these moments that we have are. As our pastor reminded us this past Sunday, we are not promised tomorrow. I am listening to my kids play right now and there are just certain things that I do not want to forget about this time in our lives:

Addie's wardrobe changes every few minutes into different princess attire
hearing her say, "Daddy, come dance with me" or "Mommy, is it time for a party dance? (translation: Dance Party)
at bedtime or naptime, "Mommy, will you rub my back?"
anytime she hears music, taking off in a sprint to her room to put on a "spinning dress"
curious questions all day long
hearing her play "out loud"
the babble of my baby boy as he waddles all over the house
little arms wrapped around my neck to give me a hug
hearing her ask Daddy if he will be her prince forever, ahh... tear...

What an awesome Christmas is was! It was so exciting to see the joy in our kids faces as they admired the lights, sang the songs (Jett didn't do much singing, but A LOT of dancing), and spent so much fun time with family! One of our favorite fall activities is a trip to the Pumpkin Patch. It is SO much fun, and you get the CUTEST pictures! Being that my babies were both born in January, they are the same age when they experience a lot of their "firsts." They were both nine months when they had their first visit to the pumpkin patch! When I got home yesterday, I realized that I had gotten some of the same shots, and I thought that it was just so cute!

My last post was all about Addie, so this one is just a little update on my sweet boy. He turned 8 months old on Saturday! I can't believe it. He is just the sweetest little cuddle bug that you have ever seen, and I just love every minute of it! He is officially not eating baby food anymore. By the spitting that I got when I put it in his mouth, and the screaming and lunging for our food, I got the hint that he was ready to feed himself, and boy was he! He LOVES meal time, and so far we haven't found anything that he doesn't like. He may even make a really sour face, but it doesn't stop him! He has become such a climber, finding ways to get up on just about anything. And, he actually took 2 steps this week. He has done that three times this week. I said to a friend that I thought it was probably a fluke, and she reminded me that we thought the same thing about Addie right before she started walking. So, we'll see what comes of this! I am crazy about this kid! Here are some fun pics from this month:

What an fun month! I can't believe that summer is practically over! The kids are growing and changing so much! My little Addie is about to start preschool! I am so excited about that, she has her backpack, lunchbox, and nap mat all ready to go! She can't wait! She is such a talker and has quite an entertaining personality! So much drama...never a dull moment in the Crawford house! Jett is growing so big. He started clapping his hands this week. He is such a happy baby! But, boy, is he a busy little thing! He is always into something and has discovered how fun it is to climb! He is going to keep me busy! SIX MONTHS OLD!

I can't believe that this little man has been in our family for half a year already!!! I took him for his 6 months well check yesterday, and I am so thankful that he is a healthy, growing boy! He is 17 lbs 8 ozs, exactly what Addie was at her 6 month visit. And he is 27 1/2 inches long. This is one inch longer than his big sister was. He is in the 50th percentile for weight, and 75th for length, and his head is down into the 75th percentile, out of the 95th!!! His body is catching up with his big ole noggin! He is such a joy, and I can tell that I am going to have my hands full with this one! He is crawling all over the place and even pulling up on furniture! This morning, I found him standing in his crib! Dr. Terk told me that he had a feeling that this one was going to "rock my world!" I love watching the new discoveries that each day brings! I love you Jett Daniel!

Summer Vacation!

We just got back from a GREAT vacation! We headed down to Port Aransas with some of our good friends, the Pattersons! We stayed at my parent's beach house, and just had a lot of good RELAXATION! The kids were SOOO great, they had the best time! And it was really nice to be able to put our kids to bed in the evenings and still be able to drink wine, talk, and play games with great friends. Thanks guys for making our trip so perfect!

Have you ever tried to build a sand castle with 2 year olds? Pretty much impossible!!!
Our camp! Scott brought this cool tent so we could keep the babies in the shade! Great idea!
Dad came down and took the guys fishing. They each caught a shark and then 5 red fish! We took it all to a restaurant that night and had it cooked up for us, so yummy! Way to go boys!

Adam and I decided to stop at my grandfather's house in Fredericksburg on our way home, and we were so glad that we did. It was beautiful! Of course I didn't take enough pictures, but it had a BEAUTIFUL pool, a creek running in front of the house, a playhouse for Addie, a zip line into the creek, a full baseball diamond, and a deer feeder where we watched 15 deer in the evening. We went into town and ate at a quaint little German restaurant and then went to the Ice Cream Parlor. It was so fun! A great way to end an awesome vacation!This was at a park where we stopped and ate a picnic lunch. These ducks would take the bread right out of your hand, and if you weren't fast enough, they would steal it when you weren't looking!

Fourth of July Weekend

We had a great, relaxing time this weekend with good friends. We are so thankful to be surrounded by such great people that we get to raise our kids with. Friday night we spent time with our good friends, the Hopes. My parents weren't at their house, so we raided it! We swam and grilled out! Of course, I didn't have my camera, but Amanda got some good pictures of the kids in the pool, so I will steal some from her when she gets them up. Chase and Addie had a blast together! Then Saturday night, the Richardsons came over. We grilled out again, then the Bassetts came through the gate when they got home. We had so much fun just hanging out and letting the kids go crazy! Aren't those beautiful words? Adam and I are at a time in our lives where God is teaching us more than ever how to be dependent on Him and His provision. As we were singing this song in church this morning, the words "Chart and compass come from thee, Jesus Savior pilot me" spoke to me in a whole new way. Even though I know this, the fact that He IS the compass, He IS my direction, hit me head on. I felt a burden lifted off of me, and I was able to rest in His arms. I love the many ways that God speaks to us. And what a blessing to me, to be led in worship by my husband singing this song, knowing and believing with his whole heart the words of this song as he sang it back to his Jesus. And that second verse, "as a mother stills her child, He can calm the oceans wild," WOW. I picture rocking my babies in their room, the peace and serenity that I feel in that moment, and our powerful Creator sitting on His throne as He holds out his hand and turns the raging waters a lullaby of gently rocking waves. What a day! Thank you Jesus for reminding us, in so many little things, that you have all of this under control.
