5 months old!

I can't believe that my tiny newborn is a 5 month old little monster already! Time flies! He is SO precious, still hoping he stays a mama's boy! :) He is rolling ALL over the place, definitely wants to be on the move. He has figured out how to put his head down, his little bottom up in the air and just scoot across the ground, quite a sight! He is a little talker too, loves the sound of his little voice (mommy and daddy do too!) This week, he has figured out how to yell, and he thinks that is SO funny! He has been doing really well with his cereal, and he started eating squash this week. I forgot how messy baby food was! The kid doesn't care what it is, as long as he can eat it! He is doing really well at napping in his own bed now, and he has worked out a good little schedule, and he is sleeping 8-10 hours a night, which make mommy and daddy happy people! I am crazy about this kid!

So, we got back from our walk yesterday morning and headed to my room to get ready for the day. Jett was asleep in his bed and Addie usually comes in my room and hangs out with me while I get dressed. I was brushing my teeth when I noticed that it had gotten really quiet. (This is very unusual, she is usually singing something, lately her favorite song is "Single Ladies" by Beyonce, I know, we're great parents!:) Anyways, I walk around the corner of the bathroom to find her very meticulously painting her toenails with white out! It was precious! I wish that I would have thought to take a picture, but I was too busy laughing!!!

Another thing, I guess it is frustrating to older siblings to have this other child in their home that can't play anything with them yet. Addie really wants Jett to play catch with her, but being four months old, he doesn't quite get the "catch" part yet. Poor baby's been hit in the head with way to many balls the last few days. I hear crying, when I ask what happened, she says, "We was just playing catch!"

Oh the adventures of motherhood...wouldn't trade it for the world!

The Zoo!

I have probably said a thousand times how much I love my church, but I do!!! This week, our playgroup went to the zoo! We had 11 mommies and 25 kids, and it was so much fun! We could not have asked for better weather, and the kids were SOOOO good! It was a blast!

Jett was excited about his first trip to the zoo!

Addie had the map and was planning out our day

Random Tip...

My mom called me last week and told me that she didn't want me to be 50 years old and just finding this out. Of course, I was thinking it was something tragic or a secret she had been keeping from me, but thank goodness it wasn't! Its just a little tip to make your life a little easier, so I had to share! Ok, go look at your box of aluminum foil. On each end, there is a tab that says something like, "Push to lock in roll." If you push those tabs in, it holds your roll of foil in the box! No more crinkly foil from having to roll it back on after it came out of the box! How great is that?!? Thanks mom! I know, random, but if you find out something good, you have to share it with everybody! :)

Oh these kiddos, so sweet! They are growing like weeds! Jett had his first fever this week, and since he was just barely over three months, they had me bring him in. Thankfully everything was ok. But, of course it happened the same week as all of this "swine flu" mess, so it got me freaking out. I had my experience at the hospital with this baby, I do not want to go back! :) He is rolling over all of the time from his stomach to his back, and he ALMOST has the other way figured out! I started giving him a little bit of cereal some evenings, he thinks that is pretty funny! And the last two nights he has gone to bed at 8:45 and slept for 10 hours! WAY TO GO BOY!!! Only thing is that I cannot get him to take a bottle! I am in a wedding soon and will be away from him for awhile, we have got to get this figured out! Any suggestions? Addie is just talking more and more, I am shocked by some of the things she comes up with! My favorite word this week was her telling me about the "Hopgrasser" in the backyard! I love it!

My New "Normal"

I am so thankful for this job of being a mommy of two! Not that it is always easy, because it is definitely not! But, oh the joy that it brings! And, now that I am starting to get some sleep again, I am liking it even more! :) I think I had in my mind though that my life would get back to "normal." What I am realizing is that this is my new "normal." And, grasping that means no more waiting for things to change. It helps me to better "live in the now." I don't want these precious moments to pass me by. When Addie is spinning in a princess dress in the living room, singing at the top of her lungs, my mom will say to me, "Burn this moment in your mind. These times will go by so quickly." I am so thankful to have my mom, who has been there and survived all of the challenges, remind me to treasure these special times.
Addie is becoming such a big girl! She is talking in full conversations now, and blows us away with the things she says! She LOVES to play dress-up and watch the Barbie movies. Anytime we put on one of those movies, she runs to her room and picks out a "princess dress" so that she can spin! Her FAVORITE book right now is called Pinkalicious! And, when I say favorite, I mean, we read it at least once everyday, and she pretty much reads it to us. It is about a little girl who eats so many pink cupcakes that she turns pink. I had a box of pink cake mix and pink frosting in the pantry saved for a day that was too cold to go outside, so we made pink cupcakes this week! She LOVED it!!!

Yeah, once she started licking the spatula, I finished the job! But aren't her cupcakes beautiful?!?

She also has been so amazed by the birds in the backyard. She wants so badly to touch them, but for some reason, they just won't stick around for her to get close enough! But, she definitely wants to give all of them a name! So, last week she painted a little birdhouse for them. I am pretty sure that it is too small for any bird to live in, but as far as she is concerned, they are living in there already!

We have also decided to enroll her in preschool for the fall. For all of you mommies that decide to do this in the future, it is quite the ordeal! Who knew that choosing a preschool was so involved! And, I had no idea that I had to start so early! But, after a lot of research and visiting different schools, we have chosen one and are really excited about it! I can't believe that I have to buy my baby a lunchbox!!!

I just had to throw that picture in there because its cute! My friend Haley sent me to a link that showed me how to make a tutu. This is Addie the morning that I gave it to her, hence the pajamas and the bed head! She has had so much fun spinning in that thing!

Jett is getting so big too! I can't believe how fast the time goes! He rolled over yesterday, twice!!! And, he is sleep really well at night these days. I broke down and started letting him just cry it out at night. The first night, he cried for 8 minutes, second night for 7 minutes, and last night, for about 45 seconds! Then, he slept for 8 hours! My prayers are being answered! THANK YOU JESUS FOR SOME SLEEP!!! Here are some cute pics of him lately.

We put Jett in the doll stroller! He looked like a giant, it was so funny!

Poor kid, he is doomed. I was drying my hair, and I turned around and he had Barbie on one side and Cinderella on the other!

And there is just nothing as sweet as a sleeping baby.
